One paragraph (140 words)

AT THE FORK brings a fresh and compelling storytelling approach to questions of the impact our food choices make on our health, environment and our relationship to non-human animals. Told over seven short episodes, AT THE FORK follows a family as they come to engage with many unquestioned assumptions about what they eat.Featuring acclaimed Australian actors, Tony Cogin and Katrina Retallick and introducing Samuel Lucus Allen and Jadzea Allen, the drama of AT THE FORK is driven by two tech-savvy teenagers learning about the plight of industrially farmed animals.

Directed by Richard James Allen, written and produced by Josef Brown, and with a voice over by Tara Morice, the project is accessible, entertaining, with a broad appeal to mainstream viewers, in particular younger generations: offering them thought seeds to carry, consider and raise around their own family dinner tables.

One page (250 words)

AT THE FORK is a seven part short-form miniseries, starring acclaimed Australian actors Tony Cogin and Katrina Retallick and introducing Samuel Lucas Allen and Jadzea Allen. It features a voice over narration by Tara Morice.

The series follows the journey of two bright teenagers approaching a watershed moment in their lives. As our young protagonists learn about the plight of industrially farmed animals, they discover the benefits that a vegetarian diet can make on their health and the health of our planet.

But this new information puts them at odds with their parents, entrenched in their ‘normal‘, even clichéd Australian eating habits. What unfolds is a family drama, as a shifting paradigm meets one reluctant to budge, as they all slowly come to ask, ‘isn’t it funny what we think of as normal?’

Written and produced by Josef Brown, long time animal rights advocate and vegetarian, Josef has spent a career as an internationally renowned professional actor and dancer. For this project he has teamed with fellow vegetarian and celebrated filmmaker Richard James Allen, founder of The Physical TV Company.

Embracing a gentle storytelling approach, AT THE FORK presents the important arguments surrounding the issues of meat eating in a more family friendly format, while remaining true to the integrity of the topic at hand.

The series continues the profound shift of vegetarianism from the fringe and into the suburban home, planting thought seeds for our younger generations to carry, consider and raise as conversation around their family dinner tables.
