Richard James Allen (The Kamikaze Mind) will be participating in:

WRITING the STORY of the FUTURE
a one-day seminar on the author in the digital age

The Australia Council for the Arts invites you to a one-day seminar
exploring a universe in which the book is a game without buttons.

This free seminar will be held in Adelaide
on Monday 26 February 2007
at the Mercury Cinema, 13 Morphett Street, Adelaide,
between 9.00 am and  4.30 pm.

Join acclaimed US collaborators new media artist Eddo Stern and writer Jessica Hutchins; award-winning scriptwriter Simon Hopkinson; new media educator Christy Dena; new media writer, producer and AFTRS lecturer Jackie Turnure; and writer, performer and filmmaker Richard James Allen, in an exciting discussion of how digital media are transforming storytelling.

Richard James Allen will develop the notion of being a “shapeshifting” artist, that is inherently cross-platform in approach to creating work, by drawing on ideas in his recent UTS Chancellor’s Award-winning doctoral thesis and his cross-platform literary work for pages, performance, and phones, The Kamikaze Mind.

Writing the Story of the Future is part of a new Australia Council and AFTRS initiative that will host developmental workshops and a LAMP residential workshop in 2007.
