Retreat leader Richard

Dr Richard James Allen is one of Australia 's most advanced Yoga practitioners, with a deep and wide appreciation of many styles of Yoga (including Jivamukti, Ashtanga and Iyengar) and the philosophy that underlies them. A much in demand Yoga teacher, his many students enjoy his imagination and creativity, his sense of humor, his compassion and sensitivity, his dynamic yet flowing classes, his extraordinarily graceful practice, and his thoughtful elucidation of the philosophy that underlies the physical practices of Yoga. He is a recent mentor for Jivamukti's international teacher training program and is also a regular teacher at the Life Source Teacher Training.

Richard was awarded the Chancellor's Award at the University of Technology, Sydney , for a doctoral thesis that explores spiritual philosophy and shapeshifting creativity through the frame of the Jivamukti Yoga teachings. His asana practice is featured in the bestselling book, The Yoga Bible , and in the short films Breathe by Nina Williams and Rubberman Accepts The Nobel Prize by Karen Pearlman.
